LIGHTEST TANKS FOR THE PRICE
Carbon Weight Accumulators
Lightning Hybrids LLC is dedicated to providing enhanced hydraulic system performance and efficiency without compromising safety and reliability. Our high pressure composite bladder accumulators for hydraulic and other energy storage applications are one-third the weightof standard steel accumulators and have the following benefits:

  • Energy savings due to significant weight reduction
  • Increased safety:
    • Burst tested to a safety factor greater than 3.4 times operating pressure
    • Inherent leak-before-burst fatigue failure mode
    • Safety shut-off valve
  • Lighter accumulators are less expensive to ship and install since weight and mounting hardware is minimized
  • Larger accumulators may be used to replace multiple smaller accumulators
  • Similar pricing to steel accumulators with same specifications

Lightning Hybrids’ 10 to 30 gallon accumulators consist of an aluminum shell wrapped with a spun carbon fiber wrapped vessel with an aluminum lining, and a nitrogen gas compression bladder and ports for fluid flow. LHI’s carbon fiber pressure shell is considerably lighter than a steel shell. For example, a 15 gallon accumulator weighs 115 pounds/55 kilos compared to 465 pounds/210 kilos for a steel accumulator.

Smart tank options:

  • Rotomolded lining increases safety and triples shell life
  • Temperature sensors bonded to aluminum shell
  • Strain gauges monitor pressure cycles and spikes
  • Communication over CAN/WiFi/Bluetooth/other
